From February 15 to March 16, 2025, Global Affairs Canada conducted public consultations regarding Costa Rica’s potential accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), via a Canada Gazette notice.
We sought the views and experiences of Canadians and interested stakeholders regarding Costa Rica ‘s potential accession to the CPTPP. Feedback received will help inform Canada's interests, priorities, and next steps regarding the accession process.
Who was the focus of this consultation?
This consultation was open to the public and everyone was invited to share their views. Global Affairs Canada welcomed submissions from a diverse range of Canadian voices that included:
- individuals
- businesses of all sizes, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
- industry associations
- experts/academics
- civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations
- labour unions
- provincial, territorial and municipal governments
- Indigenous Peoples
- women's associations, 2SLGBTQI+ stakeholders and community groups representing diverse experiences
- students and youth
- other interested Canadian stakeholders
