P.J. Akeeagok

P.J. Akeeagok, former Premier of Nunavut, is an Indigenous leader in Arctic governance, infrastructure, and nation building, and the Founder and President of Arctic Strategies Inc. He has led major agreements that strengthened Inuit governance, expanded institutional capacity, and secured significant federal investment across the Arctic. Before serving as Premier, he guided the Qikiqtani Inuit Association through major settlements, capacity building initiatives, and long-term development strategies. His leadership has shaped Arctic policy, advanced transformative infrastructure projects, and positioned Inuit priorities at the centre of Canada’s Arctic strategy. M. Akeeagok now advises governments and partners on high impact, Indigenous led Arctic development.
