Title of the statutory instrument

North American Leaders’ Summit 2007 Privileges and Immunities Order - SOR/2007-194

Enabling Act

Foreign Missions and International Organizations Act (FMIOA)

Rationale

The statutory instrument will be repealed as the privileges and immunities that were put in place for the period beginning on August 18, 2007, and ending on August 23, 2007, for representatives of foreign states that participated in the Summit are no longer required.

Narrative

This order is no longer relevant and will be repealed. It was put in place for the period beginning on August 18, 2007, and ending on August 23, 2007, for representatives of foreign states that participated in the Summit, to the extent required for the exercise of their functions in Canada in relation to the Summit. Those privileges and immunities are the ones set out in sections 11, 12 and 14 to 16 of Article IV of the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations and the ones set out in Schedule III to the FMIOA.
