Rationale

These regulations will be amended further to changes in the treatment of the importation of these items. Review of this permit was recently completed, and no further review expected in the near future.

Narrative

These regulations allow the importation of CWC toxic chemicals and precursors without the need for an individual import permit from any destination. The use and transport of these items in Canada is closely controlled under separate federal legislation.  

The review of these regulations would be driven by the need to determine whether their requirements are aligned with other federal legislations. For the time being, the regulations continue to be relevant, and the content is consistent with the current GC-wide approach. There is therefore no immediate requirement for review or change.
