Rationale

The statutory instrument is under review to assess its effectiveness and ensure it remains relevant and aligned with evolving legislation, policy objectives and priorities.

Narrative

The Consular Service Fee has not been amended since it was first introduced in 1995. Global Affairs Canada plans to amend the Regulations to introduce fee exemptions in emergencies and crises, when specified criteria are met, in conjunction with regulatory amendments to be undertaken by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
