Title of the statutory instrument

Export Control List - SOR/89-202

Enabling Act

Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA)

Rationale

Review of this list occurs pursuant to Canada’s commitments made in multilateral export control regimes (annually), various bilateral agreements (as required), as well as certain unilateral controls implemented for various reasons, including national security (as required).

Narrative

These regulations list goods and technologies that are controlled for export. The review of these regulations is driven by Canada’s commitments made in multilateral export control regimes, bilateral agreements, and trade agreements, or the need to control certain items domestically for various reasons, including for national security. The regulations will next be amended as required for the above-mentioned reasons, as well as to repeal spent provisions that have no current application.
