Enabling Act
Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA)
Rationale
The purpose of this review is to assess the statutory instrument’s relevance and usefulness.
Narrative
The Export Permit (Steel Monitoring) Regulations were put in place in support of the Government’s stated policy relating to the tracking of certain steel products entering and leaving the country.
The Government of Canada no longer has an Export Steel Monitoring Program and carbon steel products were removed from the Export Control List in 1990. Therefore, the regulations should be repealed.
