Rationale

Review of the regulations to align with evolving legislation, administrative needs or government policy objectives and priorities regarding supply chain transparency.

Narrative

These regulations allow the importation of aluminum products without the need for a shipment-specific import permit. Development of proposed regulatory amendments to require smelt and cast information are currently being considered.   

Currently, the regulations remain relevant as aluminum products were indefinitely added to the Import Control List in 2019. There is therefore no immediate requirement for change.
