Review of Regulations Specifying Activities that Do Not Constitute Brokering - SOR/2019-222
Title of the statutory instrument
Regulations Specifying Activities that Do Not Constitute Brokering - SOR/2019-222
Enabling Act
Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA)
Rationale
The regulations would be reviewed as required by the latest domestic and international developments. The brokering framework was very recently implemented and no development in that area warrants a review for the time being.
Narrative
Brokering controls were recently implemented (in late 2019) to meet the Arms Trade Treaty requirements to which Canada is a state party. The regulations list a set of activities that are not considered brokering. The regulations will be updated as required.
