Title of the statutory instrument
Canada’s 2018 G7 Presidency Privileges and Immunities Order - SOR/2018-47
Enabling Act
Foreign Missions and International Organizations Act (FMIOA)
Rationale
Determining whether the privileges and immunities granted for the G7 meetings held across Canada in 2018 must be maintained.
Narrative
This Order granted privileges and immunities to foreign nationals over the period of March 26 to December 31, 2018. It is necessary to evaluate whether those privileges and immunities are still required today, and if the repeal of the Order would result in unintended legal consequences.
