Review of General Export Permit No. 41 - Dual-use Goods and Technology to Certain Destinations - SOR/2015-200
Title of the statutory instrument
General Export Permit No. 41 - Dual-use Goods and Technology to Certain Destinations - SOR/2015-200
Enabling Act
Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA)
Rationale
Review of the general export permit to better align with users and administrative needs respecting reporting requirements, as well as to assess whether more items should be included.
Narrative
General Export Permit No. 41 (GEP-41) allows residents of Canada, subject to certain terms and conditions, to export or transfer certain items included in Group 1 and item number 5504 of the Export Control List / Guide to consignees located in any of the 32 eligible destinations identified in the GEP. Eligible destinations are generally like-minded countries that, similar to Canada, are members of multiple multilateral export control regimes and have implemented an effective system of export controls. The review of this permit would be to assess its effectiveness and ensure it remains relevant and aligned with evolving policy objectives, priorities and administrative needs.
This is a low priority currently. The regulations continue to be relevant, and the content is consistent with the current approach to guidance; there is therefore no immediate requirement for change.
