Rationale

A periodic review of this statutory instrument is recommended to ensure that it aligns with evolving legislation, policy objectives and priorities and updated and amended accordingly.

Narrative

The statutory instrument entered into force upon the expiry of the 2006 Softwood Lumber Act (SLA) to implement the current regime governing exports Canadian softwood lumber products to the United States. Should a new SLA be reached, a review of this statutory instrument will be required to align with new implementing legislation and procedures.
