Rationale

This statutory instrument is being reviewed to ensure it is fit-for-purpose and in line with Canada's foreign policy objectives and overall sanctions policy.

Narrative

The purpose of this Order is to provide the Minister of Foreign Affairs with the authority to grant permits to authorize activities that would otherwise be prohibited under the Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Act or the Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Regulations. The Order will be reviewed as required, for example, if the related the Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Regulations are being reviewed.
