Lana Payne

Lana Payne is the first woman elected National President of Unifor, Canada’s largest private sector union representing 320,000 members in every major industrial sector. A former journalist, she previously served as President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour. Ms. Payne is a leading advocate for Canadian workers, earning distinction on The Hill Times Top 100 Most Influential People in Government and Politics (2026), Maclean’s Power List (2024), Chatelaine’s Doris Anderson Award (2023), and as a multiple Automotive News All-Star. She has led efforts to protect Canadian jobs during trade disputes and championed the landmark passage of federal anti-scab legislation.
